The joys of story-telling
How does one begin to write a story to tell the world about ”joie de vivre” ~ the Joy of living?
Perhaps I have been equally an observer and a participant in the canvas or arena of life, both in a ”micro” and “macro” sort of way. People, places, events, mother earth, culture, norms, spiritual endeavours: Surely my interests have grown in diversity.
As a child I would go back to my home town during school breaks and tell the folks about my activities and what I had learned.
Looking back, I believe that these home visits developed a growing interest and passion to express myself and contribute to the lives of the folks back home ~ without necessarily seeking remuneration.
In a way, I felt a sense of empowerment. From a humble life, one is able to make a difference in society through the simple act of story-telling. A person is able to integrate and assimilate into an environment using one’s preparedness to express one’s feelings and thoughts openly.
With the gift of writing, for example, a person can pass on visions of simple things such as looking up at the stars, gazing at fireflies, watching birds in flight, listening to the rustle of autumn leaves, picking sea shells, enjoying fiestas, or just thinking about the awesome wonder of mother nature.
Oh, I’ve learned how to dance and act on stage, too. But the joy of passing on that knowledge to others through story-telling is beyond description.

Lovely article, Nilda. Thank you for sharing.
