The Filipino Australian Multicultural Association Inc. (FAMAS) celebrated their first anniversary and the Philippine Independence Day in a Grand Masquerade Ball on June 8 in Balcatta, WA.

Revellers enjoyed the delicious Filipino delicacies, the cultural performances and danced with a live band until midnight.

On the occasion, FAMAS also welcomed its new officers to fill up vacancies in their officers’ roll.  The new officers ook their oaths in a ceremony officiated by Mr. Tony Krsticevic, MLA for Carine. City of Bayswater Terry Kenyon and Philippine Consul General Gerry Donnelly presented community awards to Joey Fabila, Lina Fabila, Rizalina Clements and Zoe Murray-Stone.

A raffle was held giving away an iPad as top prize.

FAMAS president Anita Kinkela thanked the sponsors of the event which included the Optimum Property and Finance Group, John ughes, Joey Fabila, Paul Dodds and Zoe Stone, and Newcrest Security.

The group is set to hold their next big event this October, the International Food and Cultural Festival.
