Sydney Season of ‘Thriller Live’ launched at Pitt Street

The lunch time crowd at Pitt Street Mall on Tuesday (February 23) was treated with a glimpse of Thriller Live, the musical celebrating the all-time hits of Michael Jackson.

The musical which has been showing in London for more than six years was recently staged in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland [New Zealand].  The show has arrived in Sydney and will be staged at the Lyric Theatre from 26 February to 15 March.

Fil-Aussie Broadway stage actor MiG Ayesa, who headlines the show, was joined by co-stars Prinnie Stevens and dancers Sean Christopher, Joe Drum and Simeon Henry in thrilling the crowd with their Michael Jackson music and dance moves.

At the promo event, several members of the crowd were happy to become instant ‘Jackson family members’.  In addition to getting a crash course on how to do the ‘Moonwalk’ dance, participants were rewarded with free double passes to the musical.

The show has been getting rave reviews by the media. Judging from the comments and photos shared in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the various audiences had also been very impressed by the talents of the singers and dancers in the show.

The members of the Filipino-Australian community in particular is excited to watch one of its favourite sons come home to reconnect with them through Michael Jackson music.

MiG Ayesa said:  “I have been a Michael Jackson fan from my high school days.  It is a dream come true for me perform in the musical paying tribute to his music and for this to bring me back to Australia where I grew up.”

The only other Australian in the cast composed of mostly UK performers, Prinnie Stevens of The Voice Australia fame, commented on what it was like to work with MiG:  “It is much fun and crazy.  It is a privilege to work with such a talented and fun performer.”

Thriller Live runs for over two hours, featuring all time Michael Jackson favourites accompanied by stunning choreography, presented and set to rock the audiences in two Acts.

Thriller Live was originally conceived and created by Adrian Grant, a long-time associate of Michael Jackson, and author of ‘Michael Jackson – The Visual Documentary’. The Australian tour of Thriller Live is produced by Ambassador Theatre Group, The Flying Music Company, BB Promotion and Lunchbox Theatricals in association with Key Concerts and Adelaide Festival Centre.
