Sydney Southwest Pinoy Basketball Finals
Will it be the White Team or the Blue Team?
An exciting day of basketball is on for Pinoys in Sydney’s southwest on Saturday (18 June) with the finals of the 2016 Sydney Southwest Filipino-Australian Basketball Association (SSFABA) Inter-Color Autumn tournament pitting the Whites against the Blues in what is expected to be a thrilling championship match.
The Blues and the Whites are tied on the top spot of the six-team league after finishing with identical 5-2 win-loss record in the tournament sponsored by WorldRemit.
Buoyed by a 5-win streak and banking on the league’s scoring leader Archie Patrimonio (14.4 ppg), the Blues clash against the Whites in the day’s main event at 11am.
The championship day caps a two-month tournament held every Saturday at the Fairfield Leisure Centre.
Battling for third place are the Yellow Team (4-3) and the Red Team (3-4). The first match at 9am will be played between the Green Team (3-4) and the Black (1-6).
An awarding programme immediately follows after the championship match. Top finishing teams receive trophies provided by the WorldRemit.
Following Patrimonio, the top five top league scorers include Romy Katigbak of the Red Team (13.7ppg); Louie Caluag (Yellow, 13.7); Richard Carpio (Green, 13.0); and Kenneth Ong (Blue, 12.29).
In further support to the tournament and the community, WorldRemit has opened a free first transaction deal for Filipinos sending money to the Philippines using the code SSFABA. Visit WorldRemit or download their app through Google and Apple stores.
