Candidates from the Chifley and Greenway electorates engaged Filipino-Australian voters on several issues affecting the families at a forum held recently in Blacktown.
Candidates Michelle Rowland, Labor (Greenway), Eliza James, Greens (Chifley), and Chis Winslow, Greens (Greenway) spoke about their party platforms on health, education, pension, the Medicare and a range of other issues at the forum attended by members of the Filipino-Australian community, including first-time voters.
The Federal elections will be held on July 2.
The forum also acquainted voters with changes on the ballot voting procedures.
Election primers in the Filipino language were distributed during the forum. The Parliament recently passed changes to the voting method for electing Senators in the states and territories.
The forum was held outside the office of the Philippine Australian Community Services Inc (PACSI). It was organised and supported by the PACSI, the Asian Women at Work Inc, Migrante NSW, and the Immigrant Women SpeakOut Association.
